Juneteenth 2.5 Mile Run

Come join us to Celebrate Juneteenth with a fun 2.5 Mile run. Bring the kids for a free 1K run as well. The kids 1K starts at 5:30 pm. The 2.5 mile starts at 6:19 pm New location this year: Glass City Metropark Cost: 2.5 mile - $12, TRRC members get a $2.00 discount taken at checkout. Kids - 1K free! Optional shirt can be added for $15 each. Early Packet pick up: Wednesday, June 18th, 2025 from 4pm - 6pm at Second Sole in Perrysburg. Race day packet pick up starts at 4:40 pm at Glass City Metropark, near the pavilion. Join us for an opportunity to celebrate Juneteenth with 2.5-mile run/ walk and Kids 1K. The event takes place amidst multiple family friendly Juneteenth activities throughout the day. Juneteenth has been celebrated since June 19, 1865, when federal troops were sent to Galveston, Texas to deliver Order No. 3 (the news of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation) to the enslaved people of Texas, 2 ½ years after its signing. Juneteenth became a Federally recognized holiday in 2021, thanks largely due to the efforts of a retired teacher, principal, and grandmother who walked 2.5 miles through multiple cities until she arrived in Washington DC. Texas native, Opal Lee was in her late 80’s when she began her 2.5 walking campaign. Opal Lee is known as the lady in tennis shoes and as the grandmother of Juneteenth. Children and families of all abilities are welcome and encouraged. Also consider joining us at our next events.
