The “Lisa Nelson’s Mustang Stampede 5K Run/Walk” will be held at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Colorado. This community 5K brings people together to honor the life and legacy of Lisa Nelson while raising funds for college scholarships established in her name. These scholarships specifically support student-athletes from Ralston Valley High School. Lisa served Ralston Valley High School from 2000 to 2013 as a physical education teacher and head volleyball coach. She made a lasting impact on countless students and athletes throughout her 13 years of dedicated service and her courageous two-year battle with cervical cancer. She passed away on March 3, 2013 at the age of 43. Following her passing, the Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship was created. Each year, one male and one female student-athlete from Ralston Valley High School are awarded scholarships in her honor, continuing her legacy of leadership, strength, and commitment to students. This event holds deep meaning for the Ralston Valley community, the Nelson & Schamp families, and the ongoing success of the scholarship fund. Your participation helps strengthen that legacy and ensures continued support for future college-bound students. Join us on Saturday, September 26, 2026 for a scenic fall run/walk through northwest Arvada as we come together to celebrate Lisa’s life and support Jefferson County student-athletes pursuing higher education.
