Matanuska Mile

Grab your speediest shoes and join us for the first annual Matanuska Mile at 6pm on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Palmer High School track! The race is a full mile--1609 meters--which is a little longer than four laps around the track, and it is hand timed. At 5:45pm, competitors will be split into heats according to pace (slower racing first, faster racing last), with a maximum of four heats. The first heat will start at 6pm with additional heats to follow at approximately 15-minute intervals. Online registration closes at noon, July 23 . All registration fees go to the Palmer High School Cross Country teams. See you on the track!
