Founded in 1989 by Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (1989–1993), the Sullivan Run/Walk for Health and Fitness has become a beloved end-of-summer tradition for the whole family. Race Day & Course Info: The 5K Run/Walk features a USA Track & Field (USATF)-certified course through East Chop, offering spectacular views of Nantucket Sound. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. The Kid's Dash is 25 meters of fun in Washinton Park, before the 5K kicks off. Please note that public parking near Washington Park and Oak Bluffs Harbor is limited. Participants are encouraged to carpool, bike, or walk whenever possible. The event will be held rain or shine. Commemorative T-shirts will be distributed to the first 300 registered participants. Strollers and leashed pets are welcome; however, we kindly ask that participants with strollers or pets remain toward the back of the pack and use caution throughout the race.
