Levee Trail Trek 5K Saturday, September 5, 2026 Rolling Meadows Farm – Cantrall, Illinois Join us Labor Day Weekend for one of Central Illinois' most unique running experiences. The Levee Trail Trek 5K returns after a five-year absence, bringing runners back to the beautiful countryside of Rolling Meadows Farm. Thanks to the generosity of Ed and Caren Trudeau, participants will once again have the rare opportunity to run across private farmland, through open fields, and alongside the scenic Sangamon River. This course offers more than just a race—it offers a journey through Illinois history. Across the river lies the historic site of Sangamo Town, once a thriving center of commerce during the early 1800s. The area is closely connected to the story of Abraham Lincoln, who worked in this region helping harvest timber and floating logs down the Sangamon River on their way to New Orleans. The Levee Trail Trek combines natural beauty, local history, and the challenge of trail running into an event unlike any road race. Whether you're chasing a personal best or simply looking for a memorable outdoor adventure, you'll discover a side of Sangamon County that few people ever get to see. Come celebrate the end of summer with a run through history.
