What is a Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk? The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running 3 miles through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. We honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 by supporting our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! This is a 5K (3.1 miles). You are welcome to walk or run this event. Can I get a timing chip? Timing chips are not planned for our event in 2026. Where can I pick up my packet? Packet pickup will be Friday, 9/11/2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, at Red Wheel Bike Shop, 400 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, MO. Packet pickup will also be offered on Saturday, 9/12/2026, from 7:00 to 8:15 AM, on the South Lawn of the Capitol, look for signs. Can I register the day of the run? Yes, online registration will remain open until 8:30 AM on Saturday, 9/12/2026. When does online registration close? Online registration will close at 8:30 AM on 9/12/2026. Is parking available? PLEASE NOTE CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. Yes, free parking is available on streets adjacent to High Street and Capitol Avenue. A Labor Day parade is scheduled at 11 AM on Saturday, so parking in State lots may be limited.
