Roller Ski Laser Biathlon for High School and College athletes. Morning qualifiers starting at 10 AM: Individual time-trial format with racers starting at 30-second intervals. Four prone shooting stage areas. Afternoon Finals starting at 12:00 PM with small group starts. 4 - 6 athletes per group. All skiers will be assigned to a group of four to six competitors based on Qualification Time, with the competitors in each group racing head-to-head. This guarantees all athletes get two full race opportunities (Qualifier and Finals) to test their precision marksmanship under high-intensity cardio efforts. These will be final placement heats, not elimination brackets. Course preview between 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM and laser rifle instructions and safety briefing. Safety First: To ensure safety and ease of transition for newcomers, participants will not ski with the rifles on their backs. Instead, the laser rifles will remain staged at the shooting range. Laser Rifles: Laser Rifle use is free compliments of U.S. Biathlon. Categories: Races will be split by gender and age classes, with likely categories being collegiate and high school, with high school further split by age groups depending on the number of participants. Training Benefit: Total race distances are expected to range between 4.5 and 7.5 km. Because every lap is broken up by a five-shot prone shooting session, this race can serve as an excellent, practical substitute for a summer interval training session. All activities will be held at Camp Sacajawea Retreat Center in Apple Valley, MN.
